Sahakara Nagar (Kannada: ಸಹಕಾರ ನಗರ) is a residential suburb in Bangalore, India. Sahakanagar is formed by Ministry of Communication Employees housing society and has developed to this extent under the efforts Sahakaranagar Residents welfare association. Ever since the inclusion of 45 new wards to Bangalore city in 2008, Sahakara Nagar comes under the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) limits. The locality is accessible via NH 7 on the East.[1][2][3] Sahakara Nagar was formed in the early 1980s as a co-operative society for Telecom and Post & Telegraph employees of the Government of India. It has over 8 well maintained parks and two Playgrounds maintained by BBMP.

Sahakara Nagar comes in parts, under both Byatarayanapura and Kodigehalli wards of the BBMP, and is flanked by Hebbal, Thindlu, Vidyaranyapura, and Kempapura. The National Centre for Biological Sciences, a research institute, is located adjacent to the layout. Jakkur Airfield & Pilot Training Academy[4] as well as the famous Bhupati Tennis Village is also located nearby.[5] Real estate prices have skyrocketed since the opening of the new Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL) located about 27 km North of Sahakara Nagar.


Sahakara Nagar is subdivided into seven blocks, Block A to Block G.


Sahakara Nagar is well serviced by the BMTC and has buses from major Bus stations every 15 minutes.

Sahakar Nagar is well connected to and from the international airport region and is approximate 27 km from the main road which is on NH7. University of Agricultural Sciences also known as GKVK is situated in north of Sahakar Nagar.

This area is also equipped with some reputed hospitals around this region such as Columbia Asia - Hebbal, Cauvery Medical Center, Mothershood, Cloud 9, Baptist Hospital, North side hospital and many smaller clinics and reputed doctors practicing here which include pediatrics, Dentist, bone & spine center and few diagnostic center. Sahakar Nagar boasts of a few other things such as Gold Gym,Fitness Factory, Snap Fitness Center, Reliance Fresh, Reliance Digital,Mores, Pizza Hut (PHD), Dominio's Pizza,Mc Donald's, Kanti Sweets, Namadhari, Sweet Chariot, Baskin Robbins31, Nilgiris Super market, Big market,Chairman's Club & Resort, Fab India,Subways etc . Big Bazar is situated on Hebbal ring road and is approximate 2.5 to 3 km. Since this layout has cosmopolitan crowd, there are lot of beauty saloons, health spas which are mushroomed in and around this place. The main road has a reputed Bata showroom, Lakme Saloon, further to this is also a Titan showroom. Multi cuisine restaurants are making their way into Sahakar Nagar, however there are some other family restaurants such as Swathi, Beijing bites, Nandini Delux, Chowmein Restaurant, Shanti Sagar,Adigas,Chung Wah,Annapurna,Saha Chowmin,Freska,Nisarga,Shiva's, Hydrabadi Biryani, Golli Vada pav center etc.

Sahakar Nagar has a very beautiful temple of Lord Ganesha which is situated in right in middle of the colony and is decorated with a beautiful statue of Lord Shiva within the compound of the large temple complex. (see pictures) and there are regular religious events taking place here. This temple complex also has its own small hall, for religious gatherings. This is surrounded by green lush gardens which have been very well maintained and make an extremely good for morning walks and evening strolls. This entire region and all parts of the colony, is very well guarded by the local police authorities and they are mainly available at all major points to ensure there is safety for all the residents.

TRIO world school, a famous International school is also situated here.
