Brigitte Barèges

Brigitte Barèges (born May 1, 1953) is a member of the National Assembly of France.[1] She represents the Tarn-et-Garonne department, and is a member of the Union for a Popular Movement.[1]

She is mayor of Montauban since March 2001.[1] She was reelected on 16 March 2008.

Barèges sparked a controversy when she voiced brusque opposition to proposals for legalized same-sex marriage: "Why not let people get married to animals too?"[2]
