GEM GROUP

GEM TV (in Persian جم تی‌وی) is a Persian-language entertainment satellite channel. Its headquarters is located in Dubai, UAE.

GEM Television commenced work in 2006 and is expeditiously becoming the most watched channel among the Iranians and Persian speaker’s around the world. Hosting the top entertainment service in the region with a strong commitment to local culture and desires from the top Series to hit reality TV shows, GEMTV continues to be the number one family entertainment channel of the region.[1]

GEM TV is owned and managed by GEM GROUP "General Entertainment and Media Group". GEM's current programming contains of movies, documentaries and acquired programs and shows like America's Got Talent and The X Factor. GEM also airs dubbed Turkish TV series such as Magnificent Century and Kuzey Güney and Fatmagül'ün suçu ne? and Merhamet. All of the programs are either dubbed or subtitled in Persian.[1][2]

GEM Group was established in 2001 and was based in London with the vision of being a leading company in the media industry. Soon after 2002, the headquarters moved to the UAE where it expanded and established various channels as well as subsidiary companies. These channels do not only have Iranian viewers but also an immense group of Persian speakers that accumulate to the already high viewership. GEM Groups’ wide ranges of interesting and entertaining contents are observed in either SD (standard definition) or HD (high definition) and it is broadcast on renowned satellite companies such as Hotbird, Yahsat, Nilesat and Galaxy. GEM Group was the first to supply its audience with HD quality programs through its free to air satellite channels, in addition it had created GEM Online hence making GEM TV, The number one media company in the Persian-speaking region to allow its viewers and enthusiasts to follow all programs online. Today GEM Group has twelve prominent channels and four active subsidiary companies, also GEM Group’s team of experts are in the process of adding two new channels called (GEM Bollywood and GEM Food) within the next quarter of the year.[3] GEM Group’s greater target for 2014 is to enter the Arabian media market, which will be accomplished by the launch of GEM Arabia Channels that is dedicated to the Arabic speaking region, showcasing GEM Arabia’s exclusive programs.
