Concept

Since its inception Umbrella has amassed a catalogue of over 1,500 titles and has one of the largest collections of restored classic Australian films and TV shows in the country.[1] Umbrella focuses on restoring Australian films through high definition remastering, making them available in various modern formats.

Umbrella has begun releasing theatrically and has enjoyed success with Emilio Estevez’s 2010 film The Way, starring Martin Sheen. The film grossed close to $2.5M at the box office and from a 1st week release on 35 screens, the film expanded to 110 screens in its theatrical season.

Current and upcoming theatrical releases include the Woody Allen romantic drama You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, French comedy Camille Rewinds, and Still Mine - starring Academy Award nominees James Cromwell and Geneviève Bujold.

Umbrella also has two new Australian films in production, Patrick starring Rachel Griffiths, Charles Dance and Sharni Vinson, which has international sales distribution through Bankside Films, and The Babadook starring Essie Davis, distributed internationally via EOne.[1] Australian rock documentary Blokes You Can Trust was due for release in August 2013.

Umbrella has a theatrical booking manager and marketing team, delivering campaigns that outline the full life of the title.[1]
