United States elections, 1952

The 1952 United States general election was held on November 4. Republican five-star general Dwight D. Eisenhower was elected to serve as the 34th President of the United States, defeating the Democratic nominee Adlai Stevenson. The presidential election coincided with U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and gubernatorial elections in several states.[1][2]

The Republicans gained twenty-two seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, gaining a majority over the Democrats. The Republicans also became the majority in the U.S. Senate, gaining two seats.[2]
