Excerpt
INTRODUCTION The problem of the amputee has been recognized as one of world-wide import involving social, economic, industrial, and psychological problems which affect many more people than those actually suffering amputation. All nations are involved-some more than others-and all seek information, guidance, and advice. It is necessary that the methods which have been or could be evolved for the prevention of amputation and the reduction of disability resulting therefrom through proper rehabilitation should be known.
