Excerpt: Subject: Audit Report No. OIG-02-1-0 19 University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Attached for your information is a copy of the subject financial and compliance report. The report prepared by McBride, Lock & Associates, an independent public accounting firm under contract with NSF, is for the audit of NSF Cooperative Agreement ESR- 9908 105. The auditors found the $2.9 million of NSF funded costs and $9.7 million of cost sharing claimed by UTEP through June 30, 2001, to be allowable, reasonable, and allocable. In addition, the auditors did not identify any weaknesses in UTEP's financial controls or any instances of non-compliance with award provisions.
