Excerpt
Excerpt: The supreme court of the United States has recently rendered a judgment against the United States, in favor of the Cherokee Indians, for about five million dollars, which will go to Indian Territory and be distributed per capita to over 30,000 people. This is the greatest claim ever collected by individuals against the United States through the court of claims. It has been a notable suit and its success is conceded to be due to Robert L. Owen, a Cherokee Indian, of Muskogee. The case would make a long story, involving as it does almost the life history of the eastern Cherokees. Mr. Owen's victory in this case has led to many inquiries as to the man and the case itself.
