Description
This book aims to provide an up-to-date reference for both clinical practitioners and academics by bringing together special topics in pelvic health rehabilitation. The chapters have been designed to address different patient groups and clinical scenarios. The first chapter examines the neurodevelopmental process and functions of pelvic floor muscles from infancy to childhood. Subsequent chapters discuss pelvic floor dysfunction in chronic respiratory diseases and the role of breathing exercises in pelvic floor rehabilitation. Women’s health is addressed in a chapter focusing on the rehabilitation of chronic pelvic pain in the postpartum period, while men’s health is explored through the management of urogenital and colorectal dysfunctions following pelvic surgeries.

Summary
Although pelvic health and rehabilitation play a critical role across different patient populations, they are often not sufficiently emphasized in clinical practice. The main reasons for this include the limited number of clinicians specialized in this field, patients’ concerns regarding privacy, and their social inhibitions. As frequently highlighted in the literature, patients often have difficulty expressing their urinary and colorectal symptoms and attempt to manage these problems on their own. Therefore, pelvic health should be addressed more visibly and comprehensively as an integral part of multidisciplinary clinical approaches.
