Description
A further theme explored in this volume is the relationship between periodontal diseases and systemic health, especially cancer. Current evidence increasingly suggests that periodontal inflammation is not confined to oral tissues but contributes to systemic inflammation and carcinogenesis in organs such as the lungs, pancreas, colon, and head and neck regions. These findings reinforce the notion that oral health must be recognized as a central component of public health strategies. Alongside systemic implications, the importance of oral hygiene education emerges as a key preventive strategy. Effective education across all stages of life, from early childhood to old age, not only reduces the burden iv of oral diseases but also mitigates systemic risks, as emphasized in global health reports.

Summary
Oral and dental health is a fundamental component of overall human well-being, closely linked not only to local pathologies but also to systemic diseases. The studies presented in this volume reflect a wide spectrum of contemporary research in dentistry, ranging from rare case reports to systemic associations and preventive health strategies. The first group of contributions includes rare oral lesions and developmental cysts, such as capillary hemangiomas, dentigerous cysts, odontogenic keratocysts, and oral irritation fibromas. These case reports highlight the importance of accurate clinical and radiological evaluation, as well as the indispensable role of histopathological confirmation in differential diagnosis, particularly when lesions mimic viral or malignant conditions. The second dimension of this collection shifts the focus toward special patient populations and psychosocial aspects of oral health. In particular, the evaluation of biomarkers for dental anxiety in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder underscores the intersection of behavioral sciences, neurodevelopmental disorders, and dentistry. This innovative approach demonstrates the potential of integrating salivary biomarkers and individualized behavioral interventions into dental practice to improve patient comfort and cooperation.
