Bio:

Mollie Player is just a regular person who’s nevertheless trying to do a few really hard things: overcome depression forever—and maybe get enlightened, too. Her plan: read as many helpful books as she can, then implement their advice—and pass along everything she learns along the way.

The results so far: her Mystical Memoir series, beginning with You're Getting Closer: One Year of Finding God and a Few Good Friends,  which follows her attempts to find inner peace through practical, spiritual techniques; other self-help books; and her blog, Suddenly Awesome.

Suddenly Awesome is unapologetic self-help advice for the self-obsessed. There, Player writes about the books, tips and spiritual practices that make her otherwise ordinary life suddenly awesome.

Player lives in Seattle, Washington. All of her ebooks, all of the time, are free.

All of Player’s works are available on Amazon, on Smashwords and by emailing her (for PDF versions). See mollieplayer.com for more information and to subscribe to her blog.

Reader Testimonials:

“This is the kind of writing that makes me feel as if I’d sat down with the author on the sofa with cups of tea and we were talking together for hours. The style is so vulnerable …” – Heather

“I don’t know what to say other than it is the most beautiful book that I have ever read.” – Ashley

“Really, I am rather speechless.” – Sarah

“I loved the book!! I couldn’t stop reading it!! It touched me so very much … I love how you described every moment.” – Haydee

“You have given a beautiful gift to your readers. I was very touched.” – Celia

“Player’s chatty style evokes a realism and empathy for the story. One is able to feel her pain.” – Anonymous

“Player’s writing approach really reels in the reader into the atmosphere and the circumstances. There are solid moments where without having an objective point of reference to relate to, the reader still manages to relate due to the way in which the author gets the reader involved.” – Kade

“My life has changed after reading this book. I thought it might be a book that I could share but it is not. It is a beautiful keepsake and I know I will read it many more times. I felt so many emotions and to be honest I wish it did not end. This writing is so profound.” – Patty

By: Mollie Player

Oh, and then there were the people that wanted to bring electricity and change everything. And the boy with the very red hair, who Francie suspected was somehow part of this change. The Naked House: Five Principles for a More Peaceful Home

By: Mollie Player

The solution is almost always fewer things. That's the Naked House philosophy in a nutshell, though the importance of top-notch organization ("a place for everything and everything in its place"), design unity, cleanliness and quality round out this book’s description of the most desirable, peaceful home in which to live. With a tongue-in-cheek, personal style, The Naked House is an inspiring but not-too-serious primer on cleaning, organizing and reducing clutter—and...

The Emergency Diet : The Somewhat Hard, Very Controversial, Totall...

By: Mollie Player

My name is Mollie, and for twelve years, I was obsessed with losing weight. That’s right: obsessed. I woke up with it, I went to bed with it, I lived with it. I read, and read, and read—and I tried every method I could find to lose weight. Then, one day, I finally figured it out: a very, very fast weight loss method that kept my motivation high and my feelings of deprivation low. My weight loss and weight maintenance method is a combination of several methods, a...

What I Learned from Jane

By: Mollie Player

What I Learned From Jane is the story of how a child born with severe brain damage changed her mother's life.

"After that, someone asked if I wanted to make a Christmas ornament with Jane's hand prints on it, so I did. One of the nurses had also made one for her the day before so I put mine in the box next to hers and we gathered up our things and went home. When we got home it was about midnight. I still wasn't walking very well and on my way to the door I dropped one of the Christmas ornaments and it broke. David wondered what was taking so long so he came back to find me. ...

The Power of Acceptance: One Year of Mindfulness and Meditation, V...

By: Mollie Player

For a day, a week, even a month at a time, she had the feeling continuously. She had it while she read, while she drove, while she ate, and while she played with her child. Which is why each time the feeling left, it was a great disappointment. It was the feeling of connection with the Divine, and Mollie Player wanted to hold on to it forever. But how? What was the key to continuous meditation? Following You're Getting Closer: One Year of Finding God and a Few G...

You're Getting Closer: One Year of Finding God and a Few Good Friends

By: Mollie Player

Mollie Player is just a regular person--not someone who's particularly cut out for enlightenment. However, she thinks that regular people like her can still attempt such a feat. "After all," she writes, "if whatever crazy thing I decide to do doesn’t work out, it doesn’t really matter--no one was paying attention anyway." And so, one fine January first, Player decides to conduct a year-long two-part experiment. The first part of the experiment is to finally find a few...

And so, I’ve decided: this is the year I am going to get friends. It is also the year I’m going to figure out how to pray without ceasing, to live in a state in which every action I take, every word I speak and every thought I think comes from the Source inside myself far beyond my conscious mind. I am going to communicate with the Divine, and not just occasionally—I’m going to do it all day long. I really don’t know if I will be successful but I do know this: if I’m ...
