History

Jhalawad state was founded in 1090. In 1742 Dhrangadhra, a new capital was founded and the state was renamed. Among the earlier names were Kuwa and Halwad; the state is sometimes styled Halwad-Dhrangadhra. Dhrangadhra State was ruled by Rajputs belonging to the Jhala dynasty.[2] The rulers of the state bore the title 'Raj Sahib'.[3]
