5 Persei is a double star in the constellation Perseus located around 1,786 parsecs (5,830 ly) away. The primary, with an apparent magnitude of 6.27, is a blue supergiant of spectral type B5Ia,[1] a massive star that has used up its core hydrogen and is now fusing heavier elements. The secondary, with an apparent magnitude of 12.4, is of an unknown class.[2]
