The parishes in Mumbai Region was part of the Outside Kerala Diocese until the Mumbai Diocese is formed in 1976. The first parish in Mumbai is St. Mary's Orthodox Syrian Cathedral in Dadar. The Diocese established Gregorian Community in Roha near Mumbai with the motto worship, study and service.[2] Named after the saint, the community aims to create a space for young people to meet and experience the richness of nature and induct the youth to the monastic life, worship pattern, learning and commitment to serve the community.[3]
