Excerpt: In response to your request of May 16, 2000, this report describes the progress of the National Infrastructure Protection Center (NIPC) in (1) developing national capabilities for analyzing cyber threat and vulnerability data and issuing warnings, (2) enhancing its capabilities for responding to cyber attacks, and (3) developing outreach and information-sharing initiatives with government and private-sector entities. In addition, we were asked to determine the purposes for which the NIPC used funding provided for fiscal years 1999 and 2000.
