So far dur~ngt he 1982-1983 season, influenza activlty has been generally low and almost entlrely associated wth Influenza A(H3N2). Nevertheless morz extensive influenza outbreaks have occurred In several European countnes and In North America than occurred durlng the previous season, 1981-1982. Sporadic cases and outbreaks associated wlth H3N2 virus were also reported In Asla dunng the season. Viruses of the influenza A(HIN1) subtype and Influenza B have played a minor role so far In the 1982-1983 season.
