Excerpt: The countries of the Western Hemisphere share a history of colonization by European settlers; however, the ties within the regions remain sporadic, while those to Europe continue to be strong. The economic relationship between Chile and the United States is flourishing. In addition to being Chile?s main trading partner, representing nearly 20 percent of the country?s total trade, the United States is also the principal foreign investor in the Chilean economy. Therefore, it is appropriate that this month our feature is on the commercial opportunities for U.S. firms in Chile.
