Excerpt: Dr. Alexander Eckstein, Research Associate, Russian Research Center, Harvard University, was born 9 December 1915 in Yugoslavia. He came to the United States in 1936, attended the University of California, and received his B.S., in 1939, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in agricultural economics in 1941 and 1952, respectively. He also did graduate work in International Economic Relations at the Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva, Switzerland, from 1949 to 1950.
