Summary
Dear Readers, Religion has occupied a central place in human history, encompassing social, cultural, ethical, aesthetic, and psychological dimensions. Therefore, a multidisciplinary approach is essential to fully understand and interpret contemporary discussions on religion. This volume examines the multifaceted nature of religion through contributions from diverse fields, including art, music, technology, politics, philosophy, psychology, Sufism, and ethics. Prof. Dr. Hasan Ocak explores the inseparable relationship between religion and art within the context of rituals and metaphysical beliefs, while Assoc. Prof. Hakan Emre Ziyagil analyzes the transformation of religious music in the modern world and the impact of digitalization. Prof. Dr. Muhammet Özdemir discusses the interplay between religion and technology in philosophical and social terms, and Dr. Mustafa Turan and Assoc. Prof. Sevim Yılmaz examine the relationships among science, religion, and Sufism in historical and conceptual contexts. Assoc. Prof. Bekir Emiroğlu investigates the mutual legitimization between religion and politics and the transformations shaped by modernization and globalization, while Assist. Prof. Şahin Baykal analyzes how the historiography of al-Andalus is constructed in terms of identity, memory, and ideology. The moral and linguistic dimensions of religion are addressed by Assoc. Prof. Emel Karaşahin and PhD candidate Neslişah Başbuğ, who examine how religious language, with its ethical and moral dimensions, responds to the contemporary search for meaning. Finally, Assist. Prof. Durali Karacan explores the reciprocal relationship between psychology and religion, and Assist. Prof. Seyfettin İliter evaluates Nietzsche’s critique of Christianity, collectively strengthening the interdisciplinary perspective of the volume. Together, these contributions reveal the complexity of religion, which cannot be explained from a single disciplinary standpoint, and demonstrate the necessity of a multidisciplinary approach. This volume offers a valuable resource for scholars and readers seeking a deeper understanding of the role of religion in contemporary iv society and contributes meaningfully to both academic literature and public awareness. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the authors for their invaluable contributions, rigorous scholarship, and dedication, without which this volume would not have been possible. This volume offers a valuable resource for scholars and readers seeking a deeper understanding of the role of religion in contemporary society and contributes meaningfully to both academic literature and public awareness. Sincerely, Assoc. Prof. Yılmaz ARI Editor Eskişehir / TÜRKİYE, 2025
