At the invitation of the Government of Greece, the WHO Regional Office for Europe convened a Working Group on Changing Patterns in Suicide Behaviour, which was held in Athens from 29 September to 2 October 1981. The meeting was attended by 10 participants from 9 European countries and 2 observers from Greece, and the International Association for Suicide Prevention, the International Federation of Telephonic Emergency Services, the World Federation for Mental Health and the World Psychiatric Association were represented. Professor S.A. Doxiadis, Minister of Health of Greece, welcomed the participants. He expressed his personal interest in the subject of the meeting and wished all participants success in their work.
