Excerpt: The Secretary of the Treasury submits this report in accordance with the above requirement. After reviewing the role of the Internal Revenue Service (?IRS?) in administering the Bank Secrecy Act (?BSA?) in partnership with its fellow Treasury bureau, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (?FinCEN?), the report concludes that, in light of the expertise, resources and focus of the IRS, the IRS should continue to perform the information processing and examination functions.
