Excerpt: They briefed each other on the political and economic situation in their respective countries, had an exhaustive exchange of views on the issue of further developing D.P.R.K-China relations. They also discussed matters of mutual concern, including the international and regional situations, and reached a consensus of views on the matters raised. The two leaders stressed that vigorously strengthening and developing the traditional friendly and cooperative D.P.R.K-China relations in the new century was in full accord with the desire and the fundamental interests of the two peoples, and would make a positive contribution to achieving peace, stability and progress in Asia and the rest of the world.
